Ernest W. Cockrell, an Episcopal priest, has a wonderful life narrative that has influenced his profound storytelling.
After growing up in South Eastern Oklahoma, he attended Harvard Divinity School and studied under well-known biblical archeologists. That discovery provided a critical link between religion and reality. Following his ordination at Church of the Redeemer in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, he spent 25 years at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Marion, Massachusetts. In 1969, he became a summer vicar in a church in Hertfordshire, England. In 1992, he became rector of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and School in Saratoga, California.
